Pursuant to Title 22 MRSA Section 4305,the Town of Arrowsic maintains a General Assistance program for the support of those in need. Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so by calling the General Assistance Administrator at the Town Hall at 207-443-4609 for more information. If the General Assistance Administrator is not available, please leave a message, and she will call you back.
In an emergency (after office hours), applicants may call 207-443-9711. Your call will go to the County Dispatch. Ask to have the Arrowsic General Assistance Administrator call you back. The County Dispatch will then call the General Assistance Administrator who will call you back right away. The County Dispatch is staffed 24/7 so you will be able to speak to a person. Applicants are responsible for providing the General Assistance Administrator with the information necessary to determine eligibility, including proof of all income and expenses.
"Emergency" situations include homelessness, or any life-threatening situation; or a situation beyond the control of the applicant, which if not alleviated immediately, could reasonably be expected to pose a threat to the health or safety of a person; a situation which is imminent, and which may result in homelessness, undue hardship, or unnecessary cost if not resolved immediately.
The General Assistance Administrator must issue a written decision within 24 hours of receiving an application.
