The Town Office in Arrowsic will be closed on October 1 and 3 when both Liz and Linda will be unavailable. Cathy Collins, Tax Collector and Town Clerk for the Town of Georgetown has graciously agreed to let our residents use her office in Georgetown to pay excise taxes, register new cars, etc. She asks that if you are paying in cash that you bring the exact amount needed. Checks are fine. Georgetown office hours are 9-12 and 1-5 except Wednesday when they close at 4. Linda will be back at Town Hall on October 8. th
On Tuesday evenings in October, Patten Free Library will host weekly walk-in writing workshops for teens. The sessions are open to students in grades 7-12, and will run from 6-8 p.m. in the Library’s second floor board room, free of charge.
On Saturday, October 25, the Teen Library Council of Patten Free Library is offering an evening of frightful fun at “Haunted Patten,” a brief but very scary guided tour of the library basement and some of its darkest secrets. The tours, which will be led by Library Director Lesley Dolinger, will begin at 6:30 and end at 9:30 p.m. Tour times (scheduled at 10-minute intervals) can be reserved by individuals or groups of up to six people by filling out a reservation request beginning Tuesday, October 7. The reservation request form can be downloaded and printed from the library website (www.patten.lib.me.us) or filled out on-line. The tour is appropriate for those in seventh grade and up. (Adults are welcome, too.)
